On February 12, 2013 an Agreement about the hosting and organization of the sixth Meeting of the Parties of the Espoo Convention was signed

On February 12, 2013 in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Sven Alkalaj and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Oleg Proskuriakov signed an Agreement about the hosting and organization of the sixth Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Environmental Impact Assessment in the Transboundary Context and the Second Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol on the Strategic Environmental Assessment (Protocol on SEA) and their associated preparatory meetings, 1−5 June, 2014.

The purpose of the Meeting of the Parties is to develop the concerted actions of the leading countries in the world aimed to protect the environment.

During the meeting high-level representatives discussed the issues concerned with the preparation and hosting of event that is very important for both Ukraine and European countries.

NOTE:

During the high-level segment of the fifth Meeting of the Parties of the Espoo Convention that were held in Geneva in 2011 the decision to held the next Meeting of the Parties in Ukraine in June, 2014 was made.

On February 10, 2014 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the Decree concerning signing an agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Government of Ukraine about the hosting and organization of the sixth Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Environmental Impact Assessment in the Transboundary Context.
