On December 18, 2013 Decree of the President of Ukraine of December 18, 2013 №690/2013 “On preparation and carrying out the 6th Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Environment impact assessment in Transboundary Context was adopted.

According to the President Decree Organization Committee will be established. The abovementioned Committee will include representatives of the cental authorities and will be headed by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Y. Boiko.

The 6th Meeting of the Parties to the Convention will be held in Kyiv, from 2nd till 5th June, 2014.

NOTE: Espoo Convention sets out the obligations of Parties to assess the environmental impact of certain activities at an early stage of planning. It also lays down the general obligation of States to notify and consult each other on all major projects under consideration that are likely to have a significant adverse environmental impact across boundaries.

The Convention was adopted in 1991 and entered into force on 10 September 1997 Today 48 countries are the parties to the Convention. The fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention took place in Geneva in June 2011.
