Minister Oleg Proskuriakov met representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany

On November 13, 2013 Minister Oleg Proskuriakov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Dr. Kristof Vail, representatives of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Mr. Jurgen Keinhorst, Ms. YvonneLindenlaub and representative of the German Advisory Group in Ukraine  Mr.  Georg Zachmann.

During the meeting parties discussed issues concerned with the second period of the Kyoto Protocol and both states attitude to it.

During the meeting Oleg Proskuriakov mentioned that Ukraine consistently   implement the measures of climate changes prevention. Also, ratification of the second period of the Kyoto Protocol is extremely important question to Ukraine.

Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and directly to the Federal Ministry for the Environment for the assistance provided within the framework of United Nations Development Program “Capacity Building for low carbon Growth in Ukraine”.

“I hope that our mutual efforts will reorient Ukraine’s development forward to low carbon growth” – said the Minister.

During the meeting parties agreed to collaborate in the matters of searching of mutual approaches in reducing carbon emissions.

NOTE: from 1990 to 2010 Ukraine has reduced almost 9 trillion tons of CO2 – equivalents emissions. This number of emissions was extremely low comparing to 1990 and showed efforts of Ukraine to resist the climate change.
