On October 29, 2013 Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleg Proskuriakov met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine Henryk Litwin.

The Ambassador of Poland delivered a presentation of City of Rzeszów as a possible place for the office location of the Carpathian Convention, and  stressed the benefits of Rzeszów, such as geographical location, well-developed transport infrastructure, support provided by local governments.

The desire to place the Permanent Secretariat in its territory declared Ukraine (Town of Chernivtsi), Romania (Town of Brasov), Slovakia (Town of Banska Bystrica, Town of Banska Stavnitsa). The sides also discussed the issue of climate change and the upcoming meeting in Warsaw during the 19th Conference of Parties of UNFCCC and the 9th Meeting of the Parties Kyoto Protocol.

Minister Oleg Proskuryakov emphasized that he will personnally head the delegation of Ukraine for participation in the mentioned event.

At the meeting was announced the position of Ukraine on Ratification of Doha Amendment and  future agreement on the climate change, but also noted that the position of Ukraine and Poland are basically consistent in this regard.

Ambassador H. Litwin Centre presented the draft renewable energy project that carried oyt by Poland and Ukraine at the National Technical University KPI.

The main objective of the project which is financed through the Polish Embassy by the Polish technical assistance to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland is the creation and maintenance of a joint Polish- Ukrainian Center for the Development of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, which could serve as an educational base for studies of modern technologies and their application.
