MINISTER OLEG PROSKURIAKOV MET REPRESENTATIVES OF JAPANESE GOVERNMENT AGENCY JOGMEC

On October 14, 2013 Minister Oleg Proskuriakov met with the chief geologist of the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) Toshiro Haiasi.

The meeting was held at the request of the President of JOGMEC Mr. Hirobumi Kawano to follow up previous agreements that was reached during the visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine to Japan in June, this year.

During the meeting the parties discussed the issues concerned with cooperation between the Ministry, State Geological Survey of Ukraine and JOGMEC in the area of geological exploration and extraction of mineral resources, particularly of the resources which perform interest to the Japanese corporation.

Oleg Proskuriakov proposed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation to lay the foundations for further collaboration with JOGMEC.

NOTE: JOGMEC is the public corporation ("independent government agency"), which was established in 2004 by the merger of two large public corporations, «Japan National Oil Corporation» (JNOC) and «Metal Mining Agency of Japan» (MMAJ). The main task of the corporation is to provide the economy of the country with a steady flow of strategic raw materials, such as oil, natural gas, nonferrous metals and mineral resources.

Today JOGMEC is a powerful national corporation with an annual budget of 16 billion US dollars and the share capital of 5 billion US dollars.

The company has representative offices in North America (Canada, USA, Mexico, Peru, Chile), Europe (United Kingdom, Russia), Asia (UAE, China, Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam).

Center of the spaceborne remote geological sensing of the Earth was founded in the Town of Lobaste, Botswana by the corporation JOGMEC in the cooperation with the Ministry of Geology of Republic of South Africa (RSA). Aim of the center is remote exploration of mineral resources in the different regions of the world.
